Do you have a kid that loves dinosaurs? How about over 20 dinosaurs that move, roar and even spray water? Then this is probably the face they’ll be making if you take them to World Of Dinosaurs at Paradise Wildlife Park in Hertfordshire!
We only live about 40 minutes away from Paradise Wildlife Park and had heard lots of good things about it, but never actually been before. So when they invited us along to see their new World Of Dinosaurs I knew one little boy (and one big boy!) who would be very happy.
You can hear the dinosaurs roar as you get out of your car across the road, which only helps build the anticipation. When you enter the park, there is a big Jurassic Park style gate and the theme music is playing too, so the atmosphere is set before you even reach the dinosaurs. J was so excited and led the way keenly between each one, asking their names and watching them move. But what he really wanted to get to was the T-Rex…
It didn’t disappoint! J was suitably impressed and so was Mr A as there is a car set up in front of it so you can take photos and capture yourself trying to escape its clutches, Jurassic Park style.
I was really impressed by the different dinosaurs and the attention to detail on each one. They look really life like and move in a very natural way. There has also been a lot of effort to create their habitat, with scenes including eggs and baby dinosaurs, as well as a lake and all the natural vegetation around them.
The kids were each given a little activity leaflet which Miss A enjoyed holding and finding the different dinosaurs. You could fill in all the questions, which were quite detailed, and then pick up a small prize at the gift shop. We didn’t manage to do this as J wanted to move too quickly onto the next one!
Once you come out the gift shop, there is a large sand pit where you can dig for dinosaur bones. Both J and Miss A absolutely loved this, They spent ages using the spades and brushes to uncover the bones – I was a bit worried they wouldn’t leave until we had exposed the entire skeleton (it was pretty big)!
After we had been to see the dinosaurs we took a look around the rest of the park, which is all included in the price. We enjoyed seeing all the animals – there’s just the right amout to feel like you’ve seen enough, without it being too big or tiring. But the kids were even more excited by the play area which has a real fire engine and train in!
It is quite pricey to visit, at £75 for a family of four but in line with similar attractions. You do get a lot of variety for your money and there is enough to keep everyone in the family entertained for the day, especially with the shows, talks and animal feeds that also take place. I haven’t seen any dinosaur display as impressive or big as this one before and it’s great to be able to combine that with the other elements, for family members that aren’t as dino-obsessed!
