Medpac: A bright and practical way to store and carry emergency medicine. 4/5 ****
Orange in the new black, and the Medpac definitely stands out from the crowd. It is important to be able to find emergency medication quickly and this simple, bright design makes that easy.
Small Medpac
The small medpac is perfect for taking out and about and the metal clip and loop on the back means it can easily be attached to the outside of a bag. It will easily hold two epipens and a small bottle of antihistamine. At a push you can just about squeeze in an inhaler and a spacer but it then struggles to do up. If you are older and do not need a spacer then the inhaler alone will comfortably fit.
Large Medpac
The large Medpac is much more spacious – the size of a small lunch box- and would be great for storing medicine at home, nursery or at the grandparents. The bright orange colour means you will always be able to locate it in an emergency amongst other bags or medication . This will easily hold two Epipens, a full size bottle of antihistamine, two inhalers and a spacer.
Emergency information
Each Medpac comes with a clear window and an ID card where you can add a photo and your child’s details. Inside there is a treatment card where you can add any emergency treatment information. It is a bit small for a care plan but you could add one separately to the slot.
Medpac also produce solid plastic writsbands to alert people to the fact that your child is carrying emergency medicine. These are great as they are bright, simple and difficult to break or lose.
Insulation
Epipens are supposed to be stored between 15c and 30c so the insulation on the Medpacs is reassuring that no matter what the weather they will be kept at the correct temperature.
Price
The Medpacs are noticeably cheaper than other similar products on the market and therefore more accessible for people who need them. The material seems sturdy and durable although the plastic zip may stand up to less use. The small insualte medpac is £8.99 and the large one is £11.99
