I was looking for activities to do with J over Easter and it made me sad. Every event I could find – chocolate hunts, decorating eggs or baking Easter cookies – was unsafe for him.
So, I decided to create my own.
I had heard about some Kinnerton dairy free Easter eggs for sale in Home Bargains so I went to check it out. Unfortunately they didn’t have any in stock but I did find a great Easter Egg Hunt kit for just £1.99. It’s got little plastic eggs to fill with your own treats, bunny masks, signposts and collection bags as well as extra decorations.
The lovely Tasha over at Tasha’s Dairy Free Delights has sent me some adorable homemade Easter Chocolates that will be perfect for the hunt. They are dairy free, soya free and egg free, taste delicious and look really special.
So I will be using those as well as some dairy free chocolate buttons, cranberries – J loves them! – and some non-dairy surprises like stickers to fill the little eggs and hide around the house and garden.
I have got him a Thomas The Tank Engine gift set, also from Home Bargains and just 2.99! I am going to take out the egg it comes with and fill the cup with a dairy free Easter Egg that my Mum has bought him. He loves Thomas so this will go down a treat.
It’s a shame that joining in with organised activities can be so difficult but that doesn’t mean we can’t create our own fun and invite some of his friends around too. I love to get into the spirit of occasions and having a little one to share them with just makes them more fun and exciting. I can’t wait to see his face when he discovers his dairy free Easter Egg, so much chocolate and all his extra treats!
