“I want to open it Mummy. I want to eat it Mummy,” were the cries of a very excited toddler when our goodies from Holland and Barrett’s new and improved Free From Range arrived through our door.

I love seeing J being able to indulge in foods that are normally off limits in regular shop aisles so I was almost as excited as he was!

It’s no secret that we love a good sweet treat in our house and the box didn’t make it to the kitchen before J had sampled a Cocoa Libre Dairy Free Chocolate Bear for breakfast! They are really cute and would make a lovely gift for kids or adults as the packaging and design are very classy.

Holland and Barrett’s Free From range already stocks over 1000 products and they recently launched a flagship store in Chester so I can’t wait to see what else they add next.

One product I loved was the Eskal Sunflower Seed Butter. To be honest, I’d never heard of it until recently but it is really tasty, healthy and versatile. It is also a good alternative to Wow Butter for anyone suffering from a soy allergy.

We also tried some Rebel Mylk – flavoured coconut milks – which are a lovely size for a snack or taking out and about. They are not just for kids either with some grown up flavours including Coffee and Green Tea.

I used the sunflower seed butter and chocolate milk to create a great new recipe I have been dying to try: No Nuts Nutella: Dairy free and nut free chocolate spread. It tastes like the real thing and is really easy with just 4 ingredients.

We were also really excited to try out the Choc Chicos chocolate making kit. It has been proven that dark chocolate is the most likely product to contain cross contamination from milk so it’s reassuring to make it from scratch.

It is also a fun and exciting way to get the kids involved in baking and a healthier alternative to most shop bought chocolate. The kit includes raw cocoa butter, cacao powder and Sweet Freedom Sweetener as well little chocolate cases, a few cocoa beans and some recipe ideas.

As I’ve been writing this post I’ve also been munching on some  Goody Good Stuff sour sweets. They are free from gelatine so great for vegans and a lovely alternative to my slight Haribo obsession!

As much as I wish J didn’t have his allergies I am grateful that he is growing up at a time when there are so many great new free from products hitting the shelves. Holland and Barrett are leading the high street in stocking these ranges and drawing attention to the issues surrounding special dietary requirements. So I hope one of their Free From Stores makes its way to Bedfordshire soon!

Disclosure: This post was sponsored and we were sent the products to sample but the content and views are my own.
